Visiting Auntie Suchi and Uncle Sai

SPL has a hard time saying goodbye 🙂

SPL and I traveled to St. Paul, MN for the weekend to visit one of my long-time friends, Suchi (we realized that this year we’ve known each other HALF our lives!??!  Wow.  What good fortune that my mom was teaching that summer school English class @ UTSA during the summer of 1989 — right before we started MIT in August.  A woman who went to high school w/ Suchi was in the class and put us in contact :-).

Anyhoo…..

We missed the weekend of unseasonably balmy weather and made it just in time for the arctic blast (we seem to have this effect when we travel).

We made do with our clothes from CA — just layered them 4 layers deep.  Our big omission was gloves and scarves — SPL doesn’t own any and I forgot mine — so our trip to the zoo was a bit on the chilly side.  I was amazed at all the locals — they are not fazed at all by the cold and the zoo was jammed for the holiday Friday (the bummer was I forgot to charge my camera battery so we only got 1 photo @ the zoo.  I did get some video though so stay tuned…..)

Suchi and Sai were terrific hosts and SPL had a blast cleaning their house, investigating their trash can, and seeing snow for the first time (though it was only small patches).

Thanks again for a fun weekend!
