Yesterday's adventure took us to Steven's Creek County Park and Reservoir. The bird of the day was the woodpecker and the plant was, none other than, poison oak!
And it was everywhere -- high places, low places. We had to be on our toes! Having participated in outdoor school for 2 years, SPL is very knowledgeable about the different appearances and locations of poison oak. He even helped his classmates and their parents to spot it!
The unexpected surprise was running into SPL's outdoor preschool teacher Wendolyn as we crossed the bridge and headed back to the parking lot! What a happy moment -- both for SPL and for me :-). I had just been talking about her too and telling the other parents about SPL's experiences in Tender Tracks (and as we pulled into the parking lot, SPL said -- "Wendolyn brought us here last year!"
