Tae Kwon Do Achievement: Orange Belt

SPL was nominated to test for his orange belt in Tae Kwon Do on April 27.  In order to pass, they have to demonstrate skill improvement in 5 areas for which they receive a piece of tape on their current belt:
  • YELLOW tape: All required hand techniques including 9-forms
  • GREEN tape: All required kicking
  • WHITE tape: Poomsae (Taeguek Forms, for yellow and higher belts only)
  • BLUE tape : One-step sparring (for yellow and higher belts only)
  • ORANGE tape is given only to those students who received all of the required tapes, AND shows adequate skill level for promotion.
It takes a lot of focus and practice to advance to the next belt level and we are very proud of the effort that SPL puts in week to week.  We also love the environment in which he is learning TKD: very nurturing and supportive but with high expectations for both the students' TKD development as well as their development as compassionate, disciplined, respectful human beings. For the test on April 27, one of the judges was the Grand Master Jung Woo Suh who has an 8th degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do.  To mark the occasion, the group of students had their photo taken with all their teachers/mastersCongratulations SPL!
