SPL's school has a farm on site which includes animals, an organic farm, and an orchard. It's a wonderful outdoor classroom and an incredible resource for our students and teachers. I volunteer there each week with SPL's class so I get to see first hand all the learning that goes on. This fall they've learned that fava beans are a great crop to replenish the soil (we planted them in the pumpkin patch -- see SPL wearing a dark green shirt above), they learned about taking observations of color and shape, and they tasted different products of the farm including figs.
