The Life & Times of SPL ยท 2005-2013

What a difference 3 1/2 months makes

Sam has always had a tough time napping during the day (thankfully his nighttime sleep has been pretty good from day one โ€“ -not long segments, but at least he didnโ€™t mix up day and night much). To get him to nap, we started by walking around the neighborhood during his first few weeks of life (and by we, I mean my parents as they started this trend ๐Ÿ™‚ โ€” great as it was summer in the Bay Area. We graduated to the sling around week 8 (I still marvel at the difference that made). Yesterday we took first steps to napping in his crib. After 15 mins of soothing, he fell asleep in my arms and after *the slowest* transfer of baby to crib possible, he rested peacefully there too. 15 minutes later he was awake, but only took 3 minutes to soothe this time and he was back to sleep. This repeated 2 more times until he was up for good. An excellent first try, if i do say so myself.

Today he took two more naps (the first for 1 hour 20 mins, the second for 45) and his mom even snagged a 20 minute nap in her bed (previous naps were relegated to the glider or propped up on the couch as Sam was in the sling and pretty sensitive to my/his position in space ๐Ÿ™‚

Hooray for Sam!
