Sam meets his Canadian Relatives
While we were in San Antonio, my parents’ dearest friends from grad school (Univ. of Wisconsin Madison) Plu and Tony were also in town for a conference. They hail from Vancouver, BC and are fun and interesting people. Sam had a great time playing with Aunt Plu who noted the potential entertainment value of the tortilla chip basket and enlisted it to occupy Sam for a bit. 🙂
Plu and Tony were the ones that helped my folks move to Chicago when Beth was a baby and mom was pregnant with me. Both have spent their careers as educators — Plu as an elementary teacher and Tony at UBC. It was fun to hear them catch up on where life has led them over the last 30 years. While I listened, I thought to myself that if 30 years from now, John and I could reflect on our lives and have made a fraction of the difference in the world that these 4 people have made, we would count ourselves successful.
