11 Months
This month was a verbal tear for SPL — he tries to pronounce many of the words that John or I say to him, especially if they start with B or P: plane, pig, ball, bottle, bath, bridge, peaches. He crawls to the sliding glass door when we ask "where are the birds" and he points to the sky. He even said "ACR" (his cousin) when he came over to play with us and "Beth" (his aunt) as well.
John and SPL play a funny game called "I’m going to get you" — which they made up together. John says "I’m going to get you" and starts crawling after SPL (continuing to say "I’m going to get you…"). Sam high-tails it away from John and then, when he signals he’s "ready" by sitting up and smiling, John unleashes the tickling :-). I tried to do it and Sam just crawls *towards* me. I’m so intimidating.
We were amazed at the connections that SPLmakes as well — he knows that birds are outside and that planes are in the sky, even when we are in the house.
This month also saw the 4 days of no napping which was pretty tough. We thought it might be his language acquisition as most of the books say that when babies go through major developmental milestones, babies’ sleep often gets disrupted.
Other funny developments:
— after nap and in the morning when he wakes up, I can say "stretch" and he’ll put his arms over his head and smile 🙂
— he started kicking the soccer ball from a standing position, holding onto the couch
— he now responds to "give me kisses" with an open mouth or at least he does when he wants to 🙂
These photos capture a few of the major milestones that SPL had in his 11th month: cruising everywhere, waving and saying "hi", looking for birds, and (thanks to my grandpa) consistently responding to "show me your funny face" :-).
