It’s Basketball Season Baby!
Stanford Men’s Basketball 2006 season kicked off on November 11th and A, Sam, John, and I were there to see it: 92-72 win v. Siena. Given it was a 1:00 pm start, Sam did great — we made it about 3/4ths of the way through the first half at which time Sam completely melted down (and we spent all of those minutes walking around Maples :-). It was good to have A with us — Sam loves having "the big kids" around.’
K and E joined us today for the Denver shellacking: 82 to 39. Sam did even better today than on the 11th — he wandered the stands with me prior to the start of the game and then sat and watched the first 13 mins (of "official game clock minutes" — so probably 25 mins or more of real time) in my lap. After that, he walked around the stadium with John for awhile — but he made it through the entire first half, which, for a boy who needed a nap, was pretty awesome. 🙂
While we’re hopeful for the season, it is a "rebuilding" year for the Card. So far Lawrence Hill and Anthony Goods are looking great, as is Robin Lopez (his twin, Brooke, also a freshman on the team, is recovering from back surgery, so we haven’t seen him play yet (but he’s supposed to be the better player). And we’re psyched that Nick Robinson is on the coaching staff :-). Not sure who Sam’s favorite player will be…..will keep you posted.
