I had a few more highlights from our trip to TX to share —

• picking broccoli with Grandma from her garden: Sam had never seen vegetables growing or had the opportunity to cut them fresh from the garden before (we’ve let our garden fall into disuse since…hmm…Sam was born 😉
• playing with Grandma and Grandpa: Grandma had saved some of our old toys for the grandkids and Sam had a great time playing with them. He also showed Grandpa how to line up bottles and loved climbing in his big rocker.
• Blackberries: Sam gobbled up Grandpa’s blackberries for breakfast.
• Sam got to see some different birds (even in the ice and cold weather they were out and about!) while we were in San Antonio: cardinals, blue jays, doves, grackels.  Grandpa leaves whole wheat bread for them to snack on so Sam joined in on the fun.
• – grandpa has taken over the bread baking duties now (and for many years — but when I was a kid, it was mom’s hobby).  Dad/grandpa does a great job of shaping the loaves by throwing them down on the counter – this startled SPL (due to the loud noise 🙂
• And two more funny ones: and (moving a bin around, of course 🙂
