Trying out Flickr (for photos)

I am trying out Flickr as our host for photos (we’re thinking about leaving Typepad sometime soon).  The navigation is different and I found it difficult to figure out how to advance from one photo to the next, at first.

If you’re having trouble, the pictures in the set line up to the right.  If you click on one of them, it replaces the big picture on the left and the "previous" and "next" photo only appear to the right (the rest of the set isn’t visible).  If you want to return to the full set of photos, click the "Set" title ("Gooseegg" or "mao mao" and "18 months" are my sets of photos so far).

Aha — and I just saw the "more" and "browse" (in *very* small font) underneath each of the photos on the right.  This allows you to advance the photos in the set more directly :-).  woohoo!

You can also see them in a slideshow format if you click on the upper right button.  Once you’re in slideshow mode, you’re kind of limited though: you can roll over the top section of the slideshow and you get some tools to speed up or slow down the slideshow, or advance the photos individually by clicking on the arrows.

To get out of slideshow mode, go to the upper left corner and you’ll see a link back to whatever set of photos you’re looking at (eg. "To your 18 months set" or "To your Gooseegg set").

I hope this helps.  I too am learning the ins and outs of Flickr.  If you have any problems, let me know.  I’d be interested in your feedback.

I know some of our readers are advanced Flickr users too so any pointers would be appreciated 🙂
