Themes

SPL has developed some themes to his life that I wanted to share/note:
— Trash: one of the pervasive themes for SPL  at this developmental stage
— Mao Mao:  there’s a cat that lives down the street that SPL and I see wandering the neighborhood.  Often he’s on the next door’s neighbor’s roof, or under another neighbor’s car, or running across our street.
— Trashy Town: his morning theme — he watches this video (from Grandee and Dana) with his dad, frequently in the morning
— Abby, Jim, K, Emily, Terry, and C — our wonderful neighbors, the Sturtevants, their dog, Abby, and their nanny, Emily.  SPL looks forward to seeing them each day.  Abby is the most popular (she’s their chocolate lab) but he loves his interactions with all the family.
— Hats: this started with dad as he often wears hats; he then started noticing them in the Richard Scarry books and the Sesame Street magazines we get
— depot: where we take the recyclable materials that aren’t collected curbside.  SPL used to hate going but now he looks forward to it as we get to see a lot of the big machine trucks in action.
— Grandpa and feeding the birds in TX: ever since we returned from our visit to TX, SPL  has been talking about Grandpa and his feeding whole wheat, homemade bread to the birds outside
— Broccoli: when he mentions grandma, this often follows.  Then he’ll make a cutting motion (they cut the broccoli off the plant).
— limbs: after the ice storm in TX in January, Dad/Grandpa had to cut down a tree branch that had snapped due to the weight of the ice.  Every time he sees a downed branch now, he mentions Grandpa.

I know there are others so I may addd to this list.  Stay tuned.
