Bampa and Myra come to visit!

Myra, SPL, John, Norma (Nan), and Bampa in front of the Stanford Quad

On April 23, John’s grandfather, "Bampa" (John named him as John was the first grandchild 🙂 and Myra arrived by train to Los Angeles (from Jacksonville FL, by way of Washington, DC, Chicago, and Austin (where they visited John’s brother Dave and his family).  John flew down to get them and drive them back to Sunnyvale.

They visited us for the weekend and we had more fun than should be legal.  On Thursday, John had an appointment @ Stanford’s Design School and Bampa went with him (check out the student in the front row!:-).  Before connecting with John and Bampa @ the Design School, SPL, Myra, Nanand I had fun exploring Stanford’s beautiful Quad: Memorial Church (when SPL reached Memorial Church’s doors and realized they wereRodin’s Burgher of Calais statues, and the fountain behind the church.  That evening, we had fun solving the world puzzle that Bampa and Myra brought for SPL, eating dinner, showing Bampa and Myra our house, and (of course!) reading stories.

Friday we had big plans too: visiting the Monterey Bay Aquarium.  At the Aquarium, we watched the divers in the Kelp Forest, visited the aviary, touched every possible creature in the tidepools, checked out the penguins new digs (their home got upgraded and just opened in March!), saw the jellies, the turtle, shark, and tuna in "The Deep"

Not to be out done, Saturday also had a fun plan (but we had a late start as we were all rather tired after Thursday and Friday :-):  San Francisco and the Marin Headlands!  Stay tuned for more….
