Imaginary play

Happy New Year!
The biggest development of the last 3 months has been in SPL’s imaginary play. As you can see in this photo, he’s got a poncho, a construction hat, MY house shoes :-), and a lincoln log microphone and he was dancing and singing in the play room.
Our sofa is also regularly a sleigh, a barn, a mail truck, a delivery truck, and a chimney for the Grinch. SPL assigns roles too: recently it’s been more Christmas themes with his dad and me being assigned Max the dog (The Grinch’s friend) and SPL being the Grinch. Sometimes he and John are grinches and I am Max. He also plays the farmer and I am the farmer’s wife or Santa and I am Mrs. Claus.
Boxes have also facilitated this play and we took advantage of a bunch of them of various sizes arriving for the holidays. It was a reminder of how important it is to play and how it doesn’t really matter how “fancy” or elaborate the toys are.
Here he is
but the boxes have also been a restaurant, an ice cream stand, a sleigh, a truck, a school, and a barn.
