Austin

We had a fun weekend in Austin over Presidents’ Day.  It was great to see Uncle Dave, Aunt Sue, GCL (almost 7.5) and EAL (almost 5).

Friday we walked to a farm that is their backyard neighbor.  There were cows, bunnies, and a horse named Buddy who thinks he’s a dog (and walks right next to you!).  “Miss Robin” was very welcoming and let thekids pet the bunnies & the horses and didn’t mind too much when they chased the chickens. Back at home, SPL and EAL hit it off playing “workers”on the driveway, and “camping” and  indoor golf inside.  EAL also showed SPL his mad swing skills, going as high as possible and then jumping off like Superman!  It was impressive.

Saturday we got to visit Uncle Bryan, Aunt Lisa, and Bear (their rotweiller — it’s a statue, but don’t tell Bryan that! 😉 at their loft downtown and then walk to the Children’s Museum(which was packed!).  SPL had a great time “doctoring” Uncle Bryan’s pet at the pet clinic and operating a large digger with Aunt Lisa.  He also fixed everyone a snack at the restaurant (always loves the food exhibit ;-).  After the museum, we went to a local gelato place and had some yummy ice cream.  SPL was a bit stunnedby all the choices (as was I actually :-).

On Sunday we had fun hanging upside down with dad, going “fishing” with cousin EAL, playing the keyboard(this photo is hilarious!  :-), making paper airplanes with Aunt Sueand then seeing how they flew off the deckin the backyard.  We also had a visit from my college friend Neel and his wife, Melissa (whom I met for the first time).  Turns out she and I not only have growing up in San Antonio in common, but she also was a counselor at CAMP for 2 years!  Small world.

And of course there were many rounds of Guitar Hero throughout the weekend (with the little boys dressed in costume), reading stories together with Johnand Dave, solving puzzles, wrestling on the floor, as well as a few naps.

Thanks for a fun weekend!
