Fun way to welcome spring

Today is the first day of spring and SPL and I spent it having fun (and didn’t take 1 photo, if you can believe it!)

We started our day at the Duck Pond with Teacher Wendolyn (from his outdoor preschool) and some other moms/kids just exploring and following the leads of the kids.  SPL loved the ducks, the water, and was particularly interested in thinking about which one(s) might be mommy ducks.

We also spent some time exploring some holes beneath a tree that SPL discovered.  for the hour, the pace was all his and it was relaxing to do what he does and watch what he sees.

Next we did a debrief with Teacher Wendolyn (just the parents) while the kids played together. One of Wendolyn’s many gifts is her ability to help kids and their parents relate better to each other, be more open and understanding (more about this later), while developing a more authentic connection with nature (and each other too).  I really appreciate this about her and I learn a great deal every time I go to one of these sessions.

After Wendolyn’s class, we stopped by our friends BH, DH, Janelle and Joe’s house to drop off the enclosure for Squeaky that we’d forgotten last weekend in our garage (when Squeaky spent the night).  This drop off became a 2 hour spontaneous playdate which was a blast!  All of us were in their front yard: Janelle and I had a chance to talk and the boys played with Squeaky and set up a “market” with oranges for sale 🙂

And the day wrapped up with Aunt Beth, Uncle Scott and the trio coming over for fajitas!

Now off to bed with me as all this fun has left me a bit tired 🙂

Hooray for spring!
