Tuesdays this year are our days to be outdoors. We kicked off our adventures on September 7Â
, one of SPL's faves (and mine too). We started in the front and visited the animals: goats, cows, sheep. After having lunch we made friends with another local family (2 boys) and SPL invited us to
to hunt for the "giant rock" (something he'd done many times with Wendolyn and the Tender Trackers).
This hike took me to a part of HV that I hadn't been to before: the "back 40" which has nature trails and a lovely stream running through it. Our friends had to turn back pretty early in the hike as they had a stroller and the path was become a bit treacherous for wheels. SPL and I continued on, and while we never did find the giant rock (this one I thought fit the bill but SPL insisted there was one "even bigger"), we did
, see a deer,

. We also had our boots so took advantage and went stream walking.
Great way to start the year!
