UPS story

Yesterday we got a box containing a DVR from UPS.  I wondered if John had bought something new (my gadget guy 🙂 but then looked at the box and realized it was addressed to one of our neighbors (who shares our same house number, but lives on a different street — easy mistake if you’re in a hurry).  SPL asked about the box and I told him that the UPS driver had dropped it off at the wrong house and that we needed to take it over to our neighbors as it belonged to them.

As I loaded SPL and the box into our car, he looked at me and said, "Why didn’t UPS read the words?"  I was a bit stunned as it was the first time I’ve heard him articulate his understanding that words connect with reading and (implied) convey understanding (or misunderstanding in our case :-).  And I smiled at him and said,"That’s a great question :-)."
